What CGT Ledger does
A record-keeping and estimate tool for Australian share portfolios. It does not calculate tax payable, lodge returns, or give tax advice.
Trades, holdings, and parcels
One ledger for each portfolio, with holdings, open parcels, and average cost kept together.
Import by CSV or email
Upload a broker CSV or forward a broker email to your private address. The importer reads it into trades you can review before importing; trades your portfolio already holds are skipped.
Summaries by year or range
Estimated net capital gain for a financial year or any date range, with an ATO item summary (18H / 18A / 18V).
FIFO parcel matching
Sales are matched against the earliest parcels you still hold, so summaries follow one consistent, reproducible method.
Losses and closed periods
Enter opening loss balances by year and close a finished period so later imports and edits cannot change it.
Workings you can print
Drill into the 18H and 18V lines, then print or save the report as a PDF for your own records or your accountant.
Three steps to a summary
Start with one trade or the backlog of history you already have.
-
Step 1
Add or import
Enter a trade by hand, upload a CSV from your broker, or forward a broker email to your private address. Review the parsed rows before anything is imported.
-
Step 2
Check the record
See holdings, open parcels, and the trade ledger. Duplicate warnings and skipped rows stay visible instead of disappearing.
-
Step 3
Run the summary
Choose a financial year or date range, check the workings, and print the report with its assumptions.

Questions
- Is it really free?
- Yes, during launch. There is no card and no trial period. If paid plans are introduced later, pricing and terms will be published before anything changes.
- Does CGT Ledger lodge my tax return?
- No. It produces estimates and working papers from the trades you enter. It does not calculate tax payable, lodge returns, or connect to the ATO.
- Is this tax advice?
- No. CGT Ledger is a record-keeping and estimate tool. Check the figures with a registered tax agent or accountant before relying on them.
- Can I import from my broker?
- Yes. Upload a CSV export from your broker or forward a broker email to your private address. Parsed rows are shown before importing, and trades already in the portfolio are skipped, so overlapping exports are safe.
- What happens to my data?
- Authentication, hosting, and storage are described in the Privacy notice. You sign in with Google, and the ledger is tied to that account.
